Learn Partimenti
1. The Partimenti Workshop (Coming Soon)
The Partimenti Workshop is currently in development and scheduled to launch in Fall 2026.
It will be an online learning space using partimenti to help todays musicians find their own musical voices through improvisation, composition, and musical fluency — learning to think musically from the inside out.
If you’d like updates as things take shape, the best way to stay informed is to join the mailing list. I send a short email most weeks sharing what’s brewing in the workshop, along with reflections on musical creation, improvisation, and composition.
2. One-on-One Partimenti Lessons
I offer individual partimenti lessons for musicians who want a personalized path into this tradition.
Partimenti is a powerful musical practice that helps musicians connect listening, improvisation, composition, and repertoire study. One-on-one lessons allow us to work at your pace, focusing on your instrument, interests, and musical goals.
What We Work On
A typical starting point includes:
Foundational partimenti patterns such as cadences, the Rule of the Octave, and sequences
Applying these patterns to basslines through improvisation and composition
Listening to music and exploring repertoire that illustrates these ideas
Musical dialogue at the instrument — playing, responding, and reflecting together
From there, lessons can expand toward:
More advanced partimenti patterns
Classical improvisation and composition
Repertoire study tailored to your instrument and level
Developing fluency, musical imagination, and stylistic flexibility
Free improvisation
You don’t need to be highly trained classical pianist or an expert in music theory to begin. In fact, partimenti often helps musicians reconnect with their technique and explains previously confusing music theory with lived musical sound.
Piano Students
I offer both partimenti lessons and piano instruction for beginner through advanced students. As a pianist and teacher, I can help you develop both instrumental technique and partimenti-based musicianship.
For beginner piano instruction, you can find more information on my piano studio website here.
Other Instruments
Partimenti is valuable for musicians on all instruments. For non-pianists, I typically work with intermediate to advanced players who have solid technical foundations or who are studying with an instrument-specific teacher alongside partimenti work.
What Past Students Have Learned
Stronger listening skills and musical imagination
Greater flexibility at their instrument
Improved improvisation and composition skills
Deeper understanding of repertoire
A more integrated, creative relationship with music
If you’d like to explore partimenti individually or learn more about upcoming workshop opportunities, feel free to get in touch.
